ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has rejected the pleas of former President Asif Ali Zardari and Federal Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhry to disqualify them.
ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court (IHC) Atharmanullah has issued a summary judgment on disqualification petitions. The court said that if 200,000 voters elect someone then why should an unelected judge disqualify him. Political parties should settle their political disputes out of court. In the public interest, courts should not be involved in cases of disqualification of elected representatives.
The court asked why the court should hear the case to disqualify any elected representative. This court refrains from exercising its discretion in this matter. A detailed decision on dismissal of petitions will be issued later.
Chief Justice Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Atharmanullah while hearing the disqualification petitions said that both the cases are related to elected representatives. Both have been elected by the people.
Chief Justice Atharmanullah further said that every political party has its own social media trolling team. Bring their cases to the courts. The person against whom the decision is made starts trolling.
The Chief Justice questioned why the courts got involved in these cases when all this was to happen. Then you say our courts are 139th. This rating is not of the courts but of the entire governance system. If there are no governance issues then cases will not come in the courts.
The Chief Justice said that when the court disqualified the former foreign minister, his constituency had been vacant for seven months. I'm not saying the courts are very good but look at the whole system.
