Paris: The Financial Action Task Force meeting in Paris started on Monday and will continue till March 4.
According to German broadcaster sources, Pakistan will be kept on the gray list for another four months by the FATF, the global watchdog for the prevention of money laundering and terrorist financing. The change in decision will now be made in the next session, which will be in June 2022.
The meeting, which began on Monday, will review the progress made so far in Pakistan on issues such as money laundering and financing of terrorism and its prevention, on the basis of which a decision will be made on whether to keep or remove it. The two action plans have a total of 34 points, 30 of which were implemented by October.
According to the report, the Asia-Pacific Group has also pointed out several shortcomings in Pakistan's financial system, so Pakistan will be on the monitoring list for now. The FATF wants Pakistan to investigate and punish terrorist financing cases. Bring transparency and let the government take action against 1373 terrorists and organizations nominated by the United Nations.
