Karachi: Karachi port has been closed due to protests of fishermen, while export and import has been completely cut off.

According to Express News, the talks between the fishermen and the Ministry of Maritime were deadlocked. The fishermen staged a protest at the launch port to meet their demands. Other participating fishing organizations Sindh Trawlers Owners Fishermen's Association (STOFA) postponed the protest.

On the other hand, hours have passed since the closure of the country's largest port due to the protest of fishermen. Domestic exports and imports are completely closed.

Sources said that the closure of Karachi Port channel has caused severe damage to trade. The arrival of 7 ships was canceled yesterday. Nine ships are scheduled to depart between 12 noon and 2 pm today, however, if the strike does not end, 9 more ships will not be able to leave the port. According to port sources, tankers carrying petroleum products are stranded in the open sea, cement exports are also being affected, ships carrying wheat are also waiting for the opening of channels for arrival at the port, heavy demurrage is being imposed due to affected schedule Is.

According to sources, the talks between the fishermen and the Ministry of Maritime were deadlocked at the PT head office on Tuesday night. The delegation of fishermen left the meeting due to non-fulfillment of demands.

Mahmood Maulvi said that 8 ships have been affected so far due to closure of the channel. Talks will be held with fishermen again today.
