KARACHI: Aunts working in houses in Gulshan-e-Iqbal escaped after stealing gold jewelery, cash watches and other belongings worth lakhs of rupees from the elderly people in the bungalow.
According to the police, the burglary took place on Saturday. The mother and daughter were involved in the incident. The owner of the bungalow had hired two aunts to work in the bungalow five months ago. Police have registered a case of theft and started investigation.
According to Express News, the aunts working in bungalow No. A72 located in Gulshan-e-Iqbal Block 13D of Gulshan-e-Iqbal police station gave gold ornaments, 8 gold sets, 12 gold bars of 10 towels to the elderly owners. They fled after stealing bangles, rings, earrings, two valuable watches, Rs 30,000 cash and other belongings.
Upon receiving the report of the incident, the police reached the spot.
Sajjad Haider Ali, the owner of the bungalow, said that 5 months ago, he had hired two aunts Shamim, wife Rafiq and his daughter Humaira, daughter Rafiq to work in the bungalow. On February 19, the two aunts arrived as usual at 9 o'clock and in their absence, the old parents of the house on the ground floor of the house got drunk and stole all the jewelery, cash and other belongings and fled.
SHO Gulshan-e-Iqbal Ijaz Ahmed Pathan told Express that the burglary took place in the bungalow on February 19. The owner of the bungalow neither registered the aunts nor informed the police nor took the identity card from them.
The SHO said that the police have registered a case of theft under section 34/381 of 2022/101 criminal case against the mother-daughter aunts on the complaint of the owner of the bungalow and started investigation. The house was also raided but no success was found.
He further said that the police have obtained the data of the mobile phones of the aunts with the help of which an attempt is being made to trace them and it is hoped that the police will arrest them soon.
