KATHMANDU: Two Indians and six locals involved in the processing of uranium, a nuclear material used in the manufacture of atomic bombs, have been arrested in Nepal's capital.

According to the International News Agency, Kathmandu police arrested eight suspects involved in uranium processing during a raid on a tip-off.
 
Police say the raid took place at a five-star hotel where uranium was also recovered from a car parked in the parking area. The accused belong to the Indian state of Bihar.

The accused Upendra Kumar Mishra and Raju Thakur were planning to sell the processed uranium for INR 350 million.

According to police, the Indian nationals arrested from the car revealed the involvement of six more locals during the interrogation who have been taken into custody.
