National politics has always been hereditary. After the father, only the son, brother, sister, uncle, nephew continue to move forward with family politics. Workers were seen chanting "Long live the dead!" Even the heads of the major political parties revolve around a single family.
When former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was disqualified, his brother Shahbaz Sharif took the reins. When Shahbaz Sharif came to federal politics from Punjab, his son Hamza Shahbaz took over Punjab. Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto founded the PPP. After him, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto took over the leadership of the party, and after the martyrdom of Benazir Bhutto, Asif Ali Zardari took the reins of the PPP in his hands. Now Benazir Bhutto's successor Bilal Bhutto is the chairman of the party. Similarly, when the Chaudhry brothers separated from Nawaz Sharif under Musharraf, they formed the PML-Q and since then the PML-Q has been revolving around the Chaudhry brothers. The leadership of the Awami National Party, which was once emerging from hereditary politics, but the leadership of the ANP has also been confined to Wali Bagh.Asfand yar Wali Khan's son Aimal Wali is holding the provincial leadership.
Although under the rules of the Election Commission of Pakistan and the Political Act, every political party is bound by intra-party elections, the party leadership does not go out of the family by pretending to hold elections for the sake of the house. It is only Jamaat-e-Islami that conducts intra-party elections under its party manifesto and after a long process party leaders elect their leadership. That is why workers like Qazi Hussain Ahmed, Syed Munawar Hassan and Sirajul Haq also got the opportunity to lead Jamaat-e-Islami.
On the one hand, the party leadership revolves around certain families, while in the elections, tickets are also distributed among khans, vadirs and nawabs. In the forthcoming National and Provincial Assembly elections, the same specific faces are seen in large assemblies of families and communities. Everyone tries to get tickets for their son, brother, nephew, niece. Getting a ticket in the upper house of the Senate has now gone from a millionaire to a billionaire. Only the highest bidder succeeds in getting a Senate ticket.
The PTI raised its voice against hereditary and traditional politics and Prime Minister Imran Khan decided to take the country's politics out of a few families. At one point, Imran Khan said that he wanted to see educated and young leadership in the assemblies. That is why he called his workers Tigers and in every meeting and speech he called his workers. Until the PTI reached the houses of power, the PTI was also free from hereditary politics. But after coming to power, the PTI also dominated those who fit in every era. That is why the workers who chanted the slogan "Long live the dead" with Imran Khan were left behind and the same traditional politicians reached the houses.
In the recent local body elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, hereditary politics once again prevailed. This time, like other political parties, the PTI also fell victim to hereditary politics. In the first phase of local body elections, federal and provincial ministers gave tickets to their sons, brothers and nephews and the workers were ignored. While the angry workers participated in the elections as independents and in most of the constituencies of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa the PTI candidate was defeated and the neglected worker was successful.
Prime Minister Imran Khan decided to issue tickets after consultation to avoid the results of the first round of local body elections. Now the PTI has issued tickets for the second phase of local body elections to be held on March 31. Tickets have been issued after consultation in a parliamentary board headed by Prime Minister Imran Khan, but this time too, federal, provincial ministers and assembly members, including the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, managed to get tickets for their close relatives.
