Assuring full cooperation to the Joint Action Committee of Journalists, Siraj-ul-Haq said that he strongly condemned the government's tactics of restricting expression and silencing the media. Yes, the Islamabad High Court is welcome to stop arrests under PICA law. Fake news is not defined in PICA law. Implementation of ordinance without definition and interpretation of fake news is beyond comprehension.
Siraj-ul-Haq said that Pika law would make anyone punishable even before it is proved a crime. During the tenure of the present government, thousands of journalists lost their jobs. Let the organizations introduce their own code of conduct. We are not in favor of setting up government regulation committees for electronic, print and digital media.
