Telangana: In the Indian city of Hyderabad, skillfully planned gold smuggling was foiled by the customs.
Hyderabad Customs has registered a case of gold smuggling against a passenger who hid 18 worth of gold in pearls sewn on burqas.
The passenger had reached Telangana from Dubai with the intention of smuggling 350 grams of gold into the country. Gold was skillfully hidden in hundreds of pearls that were sewn on the burqa.
A video shared on Twitter by Hyderabad Customs shows a man removing pearls from a burqa. Customs has registered a case against the accused for smuggling gold worth Rs 18 lakh, which weighed 350 kg. The footage has been viewed more than 6,000 times on social media.
