Lahore: In the symbolic meeting of united opposition, Hamza Shahbaz was voted by 199 members of Punjab Assembly while no vote was cast in favor of Pervez Elahi.
According to AMKNews, PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz, Hamza Shahbaz and senior PML-N leaders along with members of the United Opposition left the private hotel for a symbolic meeting at a hotel adjacent to the Punjab Assembly. Earlier, a meeting of members of the united opposition was held at a private hotel.
Maryam Nawaz, Hamza Shahbaz and members of Muttahida Opposition reached out to express solidarity while deviant leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Aleem Khan, Jahangir Tareen and members of Chahina group were also present in the rally.
The MLAs left in buses and private vehicles, accompanied by their personal bodyguards and a large contingent of police. Members of the Assembly chanted slogans of Chief Minister Hamza Shahbaz and assured their full support in the voting.
United Opposition meeting at a local hotel
When Maryam Nawaz reached the private hotel of Hamza Shahbaz, a large number of League workers were present.
Later, a meeting of the United Opposition was held under the chairmanship of Panel of Shares Shazia Abid.
After the recitation, a resolution was presented in the meeting by PML-N MPA Chaudhry Iqbal Gujjar. On which Shazia Abid said that the election of Quaid-e-Awan is on the agenda of today's meeting.
Like the proceedings of the House, Shazia Abid after the presentation of the resolution directed the members supporting Hamza Shahbaz to stand on the seats and then ordered the counting.
Later, he announced that one hundred and ninety-nine members of the Assembly voted in favor of Hamza Shahbaz while no one voted in favor of Chaudhry Pervez Elahi. Shazia Abid announced that Mian Hamza Shahbaz has been elected as the Leader of the House (Self-made) with one hundred and ninety nine votes.

Hamza Shahbaz said that whoever took oath to be the custodian of the assembly, today he closed the doors on the members.
