Exemption of sales tax on import of hybrid electric vehicles

ISLAMABAD: The government has withdrawn the sales tax exemption on import of hybrid electric vehicles.

In this regard, the Federal Board of Revenue has issued a formal notification yesterday, amending the SRO issued on June 12, 2013.

The words of sales tax have been deleted from the June 13 notification of exemption from customs duty, sales tax and wood holding tax on import of hybrid electric vehicles through a notification amendment.

When contacted, FBR officials said that the tax exemption on import of hybrid electric vehicles has been withdrawn through this amended notification. Sales tax will be applicable from
