How much hope is there for growth?
HRA for government employees is determined by the category of the city where they work. There are three categories for cities: X, Y and Z. Media reports say that the HRA of government employees living or working in X-category cities is likely to increase by 3% like DA. Employees in these cities currently receive an HRA of 27% of their basic salary.
For Y category cities this increase is possible up to 2%. Employees working in these areas receive 18-20% HRA. HRA can be increased by 1% for Z category cities. Currently, HRA is given at a rate of 9-10%.
