ISLAMABAD: Inflation continues to rise on a monthly, weekly and yearly basis in terms of the country's Consumer Price Index (CPI). ۔
According to the weekly and monthly inflation data released by the Federal Bureau of Statistics, inflation stood at 16.79 per cent year-on-year, while in terms of Consumer Price Index, inflation rose to 12.7 per cent in March 2021 as compared to March 2021.
According to a report on inflation released by the Federal Bureau of Statistics, inflation was higher in rural areas than in cities. Inflation rose to 12.7% in March. Chicken became 33.63 per cent more expensive and fruits 15.17 per cent more expensive.
According to the report, in a month, edible ghee became cheaper by 8.32%, onion by 7.01%, edible oil by 5.05%, tomatoes by 36.53%, eggs by 14.75% and wheat by 4.89%. In one month, sugar became cheaper by 1.02%.
According to the Bureau of Statistics, chicken became 33.34 per cent more expensive, fruits 16.67 per cent more expensive, edible oil 12.35 per cent and ghee 10.30 per cent more expensive in one month, tomatoes 33.87 per cent, eggs 13.97 per cent and potatoes 3.78 per cent cheaper. On an annual basis, tomato prices rose by 158.82%, edible oil by 63.47% and ghee by 56.43%.
