LAHORE: Members of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) who arrived with the intention of filing a no-confidence motion against the Speaker Punjab Assembly were barred from filing a motion after which they returned.

In this regard, PML-N leader Samiullah said that he had come to the Punjab Assembly to file a no-confidence motion. The Punjab Assembly administration has kept the doors closed.

He said that office hours were over and went back to consult with Hamza Shahbaz Sharif while Pervez Elahi was not allowed to flee.

Earlier, police barred opposition members from entering the Punjab Assembly. Barbed wire was welded to the assembly walls and gate. Heavy contingents of police were deployed at the entrances of the assembly. Police armored vehicles and water canons also reached protesters.

Opposition members, including a PML-N delegation, staged a sit-in at the gate of the Punjab Assembly after being barred from entering the Assembly Secretariat. The Assembly staff met the PML-N delegation to receive a no-confidence motion and said that if you give us a no-confidence motion, we will submit it. However, the Muslim League delegation said that we want to go inside and submit the motion, sitting inside the room to receive.

It has been said in the no-confidence motion that Pervez Elahi has lost the confidence of the majority of this House. The affairs of Punjab province are not being conducted in accordance with the constitution of Pakistan.
