Anusha Tahir Butt, a woman working for the welfare of the eunuch community, has set up the first religious seminary in Lahore for eunuchs.

Speaking to Express Tribune, Anusha Tahir Butt said that at present various NGOs and institutions are working for the welfare of eunuchs. But along with these initiatives, they have focused on the religious education of the community. One of the main reasons for their involvement in such activities as dancing and begging is that they have not been given any opportunity to get religious education.

He said that they are also Muslims and their heart wants them to pray, fast and follow other teachings of Islam but our attitude is a big obstacle in their way.

Anusha Tahir Butt says that initially about a dozen eunuchs are coming here to read Qur'an and study religion but their number will increase in Ramadan.
