ISLAMABAD: The Presidency has written a letter to the Election Commission regarding the holding of general elections and asked for the date of holding elections within 90 days of dissolution of the Assembly.
According to Express News, a letter has been written by the Presidency to the Election Commission asking it to give a date for holding the general elections and holding elections within 90 days of the dissolution of the National Assembly.
The letter, quoting Article 485 (A) and Article 224 (2) of the Constitution, said that the President would fix a date for holding general elections, within 90 days of dissolution of the National Assembly. In order to announce the date of general elections, it is necessary to consult the Election Commission under the Election Act, 2017.
