Seoul: Four pilots were killed when two South Korean military planes collided in mid-air during a training flight.

According to the International News Agency, two military planes collided near the KTN air base in the eastern city of Sacheon, South Korea. The planes staggered to the ground and caught fire.

The fire on the planes was so intense that 30 firefighters were called in to put out the blaze, which was brought under control after an hour-long struggle.

Three bodies were recovered from the wreckage of the plane while one pilot was missing whose body was found in a nearby area during a search operation. The identities of the dead pilots have not been released.

Earlier this year, a pilot was killed when a fighter jet crashed.
